Amazon A+ Content 2026: Modules, Sizes and Rules

Amazon A+ Content is the branded section on a product detail page, below the bullets, where you can add images, formatted text and comparison charts in place of the plain product description. It is free for brand-registered sellers on a Professional account. Amazon says Basic A+ can increase sales by up to 8% and well-implemented Premium A+ by up to 20%, based on its internal data. Since May 2026, Premium A+ has been rolling out to all brand-registered sellers by default.

Key takeaways

  • Eligibility: Professional selling account plus Brand Registry (owner or approved representative). Only brand-owned ASINs.
  • Basic A+: up to 5 modules, 970 px wide. Premium A+: up to 7 modules, 1,464 px wide, with video and interactive modules.
  • Design for mobile first. Text baked into images must be readable on a phone.
  • No prices, promotions, reviews, guarantees, competitor references or links.
  • Test A+ versions with Manage Your Experiments rather than guessing.

What A+ Content is and what it does

A+ Content sits in the "Product description" area of the detail page. It replaces the plain text description for the ASINs you apply it to. Its job is to convert shoppers who have scrolled past the images and bullets and still need convincing.

A+ is mostly a conversion tool. It is not a keyword-ranking tool. Better conversion can help ranking over time, because Amazon favours products that sell, but don't treat A+ as a place to stuff keywords. Put search terms in your title, Item Highlights, bullets and backend fields. Our Amazon listing optimization guide covers how those fit together.

There are three related features:

Feature What it is Where it shows
Basic A+ Up to 5 modules: images, text, comparison charts Product description area
Premium A+ Up to 7 wider modules, plus video, hotspots, carousels, Q&A Product description area
Brand Story A scrolling carousel about your brand, values and other products A "From the brand" section, applied across your ASINs

Who can use A+ Content

According to Amazon, you need:

  • A Professional selling account ($39.99 a month plus selling fees).
  • A Brand Representative role for a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry (or an approved reseller role, or generic products in your catalog).
  • Brand-owned ASINs. You can only apply A+ to products under your brand.

A+ Content itself has no fee.

Premium A+ in 2026

Premium A+ used to be invite-only, with sales thresholds reported around $5 million. In May 2026, seller-tool sites reported, and Seller Central notifications confirmed, that Premium A+ was being enabled by default for brand-registered sellers at no extra cost. Amazon also began showing a quality score for A+ modules in A+ Content Manager, based on things like completeness, image quality and module variety.

Rollout timing can vary by account. Open A+ Content Manager and look for Premium modules to see what is available to you.

Basic vs Premium A+ modules

Basic A+ modules include:

  • Company logo
  • Image header with text
  • Single image and text (left or right)
  • Three or four images with text
  • Image and light or dark text overlay
  • Comparison chart (up to six of your products)
  • Text-only and technical specification modules

Premium A+ adds:

  • Full-width images and banners
  • Video modules
  • Interactive hotspots (shoppers tap points on an image to read details)
  • Image and video carousels
  • Q&A modules
  • Interactive comparison charts

Look for modules marked AI Ready in A+ Content Manager if you want Amazon's AI help to draft content.

Image sizes for common modules

Upload images at the exact module size. Amazon scales other sizes, which can blur small text on phones.

Module Image size (pixels)
Company logo 600 × 180
Image header with text 970 × 600
Image and light/dark text overlay 970 × 300
Three images and text 300 × 300 each
Four images and text 220 × 220 each
Comparison chart 150 × 300 per product
Premium full-width image 1,464 × 600

Use JPG or PNG. Module sizes can change, so check the size shown in the module editor before you design.

Every image has an image keywords field (alt text) of up to 100 characters. Fill it with a plain description of what the image shows. It helps accessibility, and it means the image carries real text.

What gets A+ Content rejected

Amazon reviews every submission. These are the most common reasons for rejection:

Not allowed Example
Prices, discounts, promotions "Now only $19.99", "20% off", "free shipping"
Customer reviews or ratings Star graphics, review quotes, "rated 4.8 stars"
Press or editorial quotes "As seen in…" quotes
Guarantees and warranties "Lifetime guarantee", "money-back promise"
Unproven claims "#1 best seller", "best on Amazon"
Time-sensitive words "New", "latest", "now"
Links and contact details URLs, emails, phone numbers, other websites
Competitor references Naming or picturing other brands
Restricted health claims Medical claims your category doesn't allow
Low-quality images Pixelated or stretched images, unreadable text

If a submission is rejected, A+ Content Manager shows the status and reason. Fix the named module and resubmit.

How to create A+ Content, step by step

  1. In Seller Central, hover over Advertising and select A+ Content Manager.
  2. Select Start creating A+ Content and choose Enhanced Product Description (A+) or Brand Story.
  3. Name the content (for internal use) and choose the language.
  4. Select Add module and pick your modules. Upload images, write text and fill the image keywords for each.
  5. Select Apply ASINs and choose the products. You can apply one A+ design to several ASINs, such as all colors of one product.
  6. Select Review & submit. Use the preview to check both desktop and mobile layouts.
  7. Track the status in A+ Content Manager. Approval usually takes several days.

How to plan A+ that converts

A good A+ page answers the questions a shopper still has after the images and bullets. A simple, proven order:

  1. Hero banner. The product in use, with one benefit line. This sets the tone.
  2. Problem and solution. What frustrates buyers in this category, and how your product fixes it.
  3. Three or four key features, each with a close-up image and a short caption.
  4. Size, fit or compatibility. Dimensions, what it fits, what's included.
  5. How to use or care for it. Especially for products that get returned through misuse.
  6. Comparison chart of your own products, so shoppers who aren't sure can switch to another of yours instead of leaving.

Where to find what to say: read your 1–3 star reviews and your competitors' reviews, and look at the questions shoppers ask. If the same complaint or question keeps coming up, answer it in A+.

Design for mobile

Most Amazon shoppers browse on phones. Check every module in the mobile preview:

  • Keep text in images large and short. If you have to zoom to read it, it's too small.
  • Don't put essential facts only inside images. Use text modules for key specs too, so they are readable at any size.
  • Use high contrast between text and background.

Write for the AI assistant too

Amazon's shopping assistant, Alexa for Shopping (which replaced Rufus on 13 May 2026), answers shopper questions from your detail page. Facts it can read, such as sizes, materials, care and who the product is for, give it something to quote. Real text modules and filled image keywords help here. Our guide to Amazon Rufus for sellers covers this in more depth.

Worked example: is A+ worth the design cost?

Say your product sells for $29.99 and makes $12,000 a month in sales at a 30% profit margin after fees and ad spend. A designer quotes $500 for a full A+ page.

Amazon's "up to 8%" is a ceiling, not a promise, so use a cautious assumption. If A+ lifts sales by 3%:

Amount
Extra monthly sales (3% of $12,000) $360
Extra monthly profit (30% margin) $108
Design cost $500
Payback period about 4.6 months

At a 5% lift, payback drops to under 3 months. For a product with steady sales, that's usually worth it. For a product doing $1,000 a month, the same $500 takes years to pay back, so start A+ on your best sellers. Check your real margin with the FBA Profit Calculator.

Better conversion also helps ads: if more clicks turn into orders, your ACoS (advertising cost of sales) falls at the same bid. Our guide to Amazon conversion rate explains how to measure it.

Test your A+ Content

Don't guess which version works. Brand owners can A/B test A+ Content with Manage Your Experiments (Brands > Manage Experiments). You need published A+ on the ASIN and enough traffic for a valid result. Amazon recommends running experiments for 8 to 10 weeks, or using the "to significance" option, which can finish in as little as four weeks. See Amazon's Manage Your Experiments page for details.

Test one big idea at a time: a different hero image, a comparison chart versus no chart, or a benefit-led order versus a feature-led order.

Common mistakes

  • Copying the bullets into images. A+ should add information, not repeat it.
  • Tiny text in images that nobody can read on a phone.
  • One generic A+ for very different products. Shared designs work for color variations, not for different product types.
  • Leaving image keywords blank.
  • Forgetting the comparison chart, which keeps undecided shoppers inside your brand.
  • Never updating it. Refresh A+ when reviews reveal a new objection or when you launch related products.

Bottom line

A+ Content is free for brand-registered sellers and one of the simplest ways to lift conversion on products that already get traffic. In 2026, most brand owners can use Premium A+, so check A+ Content Manager for the wider modules. Build pages that answer real shopper questions, design for mobile, stay clear of the banned content list, and test versions with Manage Your Experiments.

Frequently asked questions

Is Amazon A+ Content free?

Yes. A+ Content is free for eligible sellers. You need a Professional selling account and a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry where you are the brand owner or an approved representative. Your only cost is design and photography.

How long does Amazon take to approve A+ Content?

Approval usually takes several days and can take up to about a week. If Amazon rejects it, the status in A+ Content Manager shows which module broke which rule, so you can fix it and resubmit.

What is the difference between Basic and Premium A+ Content?

Basic A+ allows up to five modules at 970 pixels wide, with images, text and comparison charts. Premium A+ allows up to seven wider modules and adds video, interactive hotspots, carousels and Q&A modules. Amazon says Basic A+ can lift sales by up to 8% and Premium by up to 20%.

Can I get Premium A+ Content in 2026?

Probably. Since May 2026, Amazon has been enabling Premium A+ by default for brand-registered sellers, removing the old invite and sales requirements. Open A+ Content Manager and check whether Premium modules are available for your brand.

Does A+ Content help SEO on Amazon?

A+ Content mainly helps conversion, not keyword ranking. Better conversion can improve rank over time. Fill in the image keywords (alt text) field and use real text modules so your product facts are readable by shoppers using screen readers and by Amazon's AI shopping assistant.

Can I put prices or reviews in A+ Content?

No. Prices, discounts, promotions, shipping promises, customer reviews, star ratings and quotes from press are not allowed. Neither are guarantees, competitor mentions, links, or contact details.
