    • Backend search terms: 249 bytes or less, no words already in the title or bullets, no repeats or ASINs.

Rules vary by category. Your category style guide in Seller Central is the final word. Read more in our guides to Amazon title requirements and listing optimization.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the Amazon title character limit in 2026?

From 27 July 2026, most US product categories limit titles to 75 characters, with media categories excluded. Longer titles can be shortened by Amazon, and brand owners get a review window. A new Item Highlights field of up to 125 characters holds the extra detail. Check your category style guide in Seller Central for exceptions.

Which characters are not allowed in Amazon titles?

Amazon does not allow ! $ ? _ { } ^ ¬ ¦ in titles unless they are part of the brand name. Emoji, promotional phrases like "best seller" or "free shipping", and words repeated more than twice are also not allowed.

How long can Amazon bullet points be?

Amazon guidance keeps each bullet point under about 255 characters. Use all five bullets, lead each with the benefit, and avoid emoji, special symbols and placeholder text.

How many bytes are allowed in backend search terms?

The US backend search terms field accepts up to 249 bytes. Most English letters are 1 byte, but some characters take 2 or more. If the field goes over the limit, Amazon may not index it at all.
