Formulas

ACoS, ROAS and TACoS

ACoS = ad spend ÷ ad sales
ROAS = ad sales ÷ ad spend = 1 ÷ ACoS
TACoS = ad spend ÷ total sales (organic + ads)

ACoS tells you whether ads are profitable. TACoS tells you whether ads are building the business. Read ACoS vs TACoS for how to use them together.

Frequently asked questions

What is TACoS on Amazon?

TACoS (total advertising cost of sales) is your ad spend divided by your total sales, organic plus ad sales. It shows how much advertising costs relative to the whole business, while ACoS only looks at ad-driven sales.

What is a good TACoS?

It depends on margin and product stage. Many established private-label products run TACoS in the high single digits to mid teens, while launches run higher on purpose. The trend matters most: a falling TACoS while sales grow means organic sales are growing.

How do I convert ACoS to ROAS?

ROAS = 1 ÷ ACoS. An ACoS of 25% equals a ROAS of 4.0. An ACoS of 50% equals a ROAS of 2.0.

Where do I find my total sales for TACoS?

Use ordered product sales for the same date range from Seller Central Business Reports (Sales and Traffic). Make sure ad spend, ad sales and total sales all cover the same dates.
